We are seeking to recruit a committed Administrative Assistant within our Clinical Negligence & Personal Injury department. This is a great opportunity for someone who has previously worked as an administrative assistant, possibly in a different sector and looking to acquire new skills.
Prior experience within a law firm is not required, the role would be suitable for anindividualseeking a career in administrative support work, who is not seeking to become a lawyer and looking to gain experience within a law firm. Paralegal opportunities will be available for those wishing to pursue a career in law. However, we are seeking a commitment to this role for at least 12 months.
We will also consider applications from students wishing to work 2 to 3 days a week whilst studying.
Overview of key responsibilities
- The role consists of providing administrative support to fee earners within the department and working closely with the department’s Personal Assistant and one other administrative assistant.

Essential:
- File and diary management
- Electronic and paper filing
- Printing, sorting and filing emails
- Printing, collating and ordering documentation from outsourced workers
- Assisting with the preparation of bundles of documents for Court, Counsel and/or experts
- Assisting the paralegals and trainees with new client enquiries
- Becoming familiar with, and observing the internal requirements of the firm as to file opening and file closing procedures, both electronically and manually
- Assisting with the department’s archiving as directed by the department’s personal assistant
- Becoming familiar with the firm’s accounting procedures, and the maintenance of all necessary records and any other administrative requirement
Skills and Experience:
- Good qualifications
- You will need to be enthusiastic, have good communication, with strong organisational and administrative skills
- You should have a flexible and professional attitude, and an ability to work quickly under pressure as well as being able to work as part of a team
- Experience in administration which has helped develop transferrable skills needed to handle complex information and interact effectively with colleagues and the public (essential)
- Experience in administration from any sector (legal experience is not required).
- A flexible, professional attitude with a desire to build a long-term career in administrative support.
