Elizabeth McGlone reacts to today’s Guardian article suggesting that Covid-19 has put a spotlight on UK universities’ shameful employment practices.
Elizabeth comments: “Covid-19 is highlighting the precariousness of employment practices in certain sectors and a spotlight has been focused on the education sector which often employs people (predominantly women) on temporary/short-term contracts who are now facing unemployment as a result of large-scale staffing cuts and the insecurity of their employment status.”
