Employment Law Update: Autumn edition 2022

3 mins

Welcome to the Autumn edition of the Employment Law Update.

As the year draws to a close and we near Christmas, it is a good time to look back on the interesting events our team have hosted over the last few months. Our Mock Employment Tribunal in September was a great success, providing delegates with insight into how an Employment Tribunal operates using a fictional scenario, barristers’ cross-examination of witnesses, and a final judgment explained to the audience. At our HR Coffee Break, we were joined by the Head of the Business Immigration team, Tanya Goldfarb, to discuss key immigration considerations for employers in relation to Right to Work checks. If you missed out, watch the webinar on demand here, or listen to it as a podcast.

There are tough times ahead given the Chancellor’s Autumn statement and the deepening cost of living crisis. Some businesses will no doubt have to make tough decisions, which may include making redundancies to ensure their business survives. Whatever difficult decisions have to be made, employers should also consider any alternative options (if feasible) to avoid redundancies, and should be as open as possible with staff, where appropriate. Listen to our ‘Let’s have a conversation about… redundancy‘ podcast below that sets out useful points to bear in mind.
