We are pleased to announce that Alison Leivesley, partner at Bindmans LLP and joint Head of our Family and Matrimonial team, has been shortlisted for the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year award in the Family Law category.
The Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards were launched 20 years ago to recognise the continued commitment of the nominated lawyers to legal aid, and access to justice. They are a welcome chance to shine a spotlight on the life-changing work of legal aid lawyers, and the power of legal aid to bring about positive change.
Alison specialises in all aspects of the law relating to children, and is a Resolution Accredited Specialist in public law children, private law children, domestic abuse, forced marriage and honour-based violence. She is commended in the Chambers and Partners legal directory as a ‘determined, thorough, forensic advocate who goes above and beyond’, and is well-regarded for her calm and compassionate approach when representing vulnerable clients. She is also highly experienced in complex care proceedings, including those with an international element where non-accidental injury, physical abuse or sexual abuse of children has been alleged, or where there are issues of radicalisation.
Dedicated to her field of practice, Alison provides training in her areas of expertise to other professionals including lawyers, social workers, health care professionals and advice agencies. She also enjoys training and developing the next generation of lawyers, and is a mentor for Young Legal Aid Lawyers (YLAL).
