Bindmans’ Private Client team participates in Will Aid 2024

2 mins

This year, Amrit Rana and Shelly Pastakia, with the assistance of Rebecca Davy and Lorenzo Razzano, will be participating in Will Aid.

Running throughout November, the Will Aid scheme supports charitable causes whilst giving people the chance to access a professionally written Will. This year, Will Aid’s survey revealed that 67% of UK adults either have an outdated Will, or no Will at all, making it vital that people are presented with the chance that this scheme offers.

The way it works? Participating solicitors volunteer their time writing a basic Will and waiving the fee, inviting their clients to donate to Will Aid. The suggested voluntary amount is £100 for a single basic Will and £180 for a pair of basic ‘mirror’ Wills. Donations go to Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, SCIAF (Scotland), and Trócaire (N. Ireland).

Peter de Vena Franks, Will Aid campaign director, said: “We are very grateful that Bindmans has signed up to this year’s campaign, it is only thanks to the commitment of firms like Bindmans volunteering their time that the campaign can continue to raise much-needed donations for our partner charities.”

Amrit Rana said: “We are so happy to be taking part in this year’s Will Aid campaign. Having a professionally written Will is crucial, and the fact that the funds raised from this scheme contribute towards the work of charities makes involvement even more valuable.”
