On Monday 18 September, the gross misconduct hearing faced by the five Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officers involved in the stop and search of elite athletes Bianca Williams and Ricardo Dos Santos will begin.
The hearing is expected to conclude on Friday 27 October.
Ms Williams and Mr Dos Stantos were stopped on 4 July 2020 after being followed by MPS officers as they were travelling in their car to their West London home from a training session. Their three-month-old son was also in the car.
They were handcuffed and searched on suspicion that they may be in possession of weapons or drugs before they were released. A video of part of the incident was uploaded onto social media and went viral.
The IOPC investigated the incident and determined that the officers should face allegations of breaches of standards of professional behaviour in a misconduct hearing. The hearing will take place at the Misconduct Hearing Suite, Palestra House, 197 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NJ.
More information on the hearing can be found here and here.
Ms Williams and Mr Dos Santos are represented by Jules Carey, Emily-Jade Defriend, and Emilia Pearson of Bindmans LLP.
