We are sad to announce the death of our former partner Katherine Gieve.

Katherine joined the firm on 12 September 1988 and successfully led our family team until her retirement on 31 March 2014. Throughout her professional career, she was a tireless champion of the rights of women and children, bringing about ground-breaking changes through her casework, writing and advocacy. Her reputation as a pre-eminent lawyer in her field resulted in her participation in a number of important cases, including her representation of one of the conjoined twins whose case was decided in 2000.

As head of the family team, Katherine developed a talented and committed group of lawyers, many of whom went on to build successful and distinguished careers. She won the admiration and affection of her colleagues and clients; she will be greatly missed.
