Kate is a solicitor in our Education Law team.
Kate joined Bindmans in July 2024 after having recently qualified as a solicitor.
Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a paralegal in the Human Rights Department at another London firm for over two years and assisted on education discrimination cases and the following:
- Claims for judicial review including permission to appeal to the Court of Appeal
- Discrimination claims under the Equality Act 2010 and the Human Rights Act 1998
- ‘Failure to remove’ claims brought against local authorities arising out of alleged failures by social services to remove children from the care of their parents to protect them from harm, instructed by the Official Solicitor
Kate has experience representing transgender children who have been discriminated against by policies and practices at schools. She has assisted with successful claims brought by clients with disabilities for judicial review against the central government, local authorities, NHS England, healthcare bodies and companies with a public sector duty. She also has experience working on cases involving discrimination against Irish Travellers.
Education and career
- Kate studied English Literature and Philosophy at the University of Toronto in Canada. Following this, she completed the GDL and LPC LLM at the University of Law and subsequently passed her SQE2 examinations.
- Kate worked as an English as a Second Language teacher in Thailand for one year in 2018-2019. She completed a mini-pupillage with a criminal KC and volunteered at Just for Kids Law and the Hate Crime Unit whilst undertaking her legal studies. She subsequently worked as a paralegal in Crime and Prison Law at a high street firm in 2021.
